Our Sunday Morning Service

Our Sunday service is for the whole family!

There's always something refreshing and exciting when we gather as a church. Our services start with passionate worship followed by an inspiring biblical teaching.

We also cater for children from newborn babies to toddlers, right up to and including primary aged kids. Children's church provides quality, age specific programs with craft, music and Bible teaching.

Our Vision & Mission

Simply, our vision is to shine for Christ and our mission is to be a Christ-centred community. We have dedicated a page to present you a good overview on this, please read more here.

Our Activities

Besides our Sunday service, we have a lot more other activities that go on during the week — activities for the kids, activities for the youth, and activities for all other age and interest groups. Please click here for a comprehensive list.

Our Pastor

Rev. Richard Tan has been serving as our pastor since August 2005. Prior to that, he served with the Methodist Church in Singapore for 10 years before completing a Master in Theological Studies programme in New Zealand. While he was there, he was an itinerant minister with the Weselyan Methodist Church of New Zealand for almost 3 years. He is married to Joanne Goh for 12 years, and together, they have two lovely children, Amanda Joy and Nathaniel Faith.

Our History

We began as Perth Chinese Christian Church nearly thirty years ago. The focus of our ministry at that time was to reach out to the Chinese migrants who were new to the Australian scene. However, over the last couple of years within our English-speaking congregation, we were witnessing a progressive demographic shift from Chinese migrants to people of Asian descent (either born or grew up in Australia), and a gradual increase of Caucasian worshippers amongst us. While most of us are Asian by descent, we are now very much Australian by culture.

This demographic shift brought about a change in focus. Under the umbrella of Perth Chinese Christian Church, our English-speaking congregation launched a new vision in February 2006, and together with the launch, we adopted our new name — Firstlight.

Some two years later, our leadership felt God's calling to relocate to Edith Cowan University's Mt Lawley campus. Consequently, we're now conducting our services in Building 3 off Bradford Street.
